Hello Friends! I hope you are all staying healthy and safe at the beginning of summer! During my quarantine, I have had the immense pleasure of watching a lot of Star Wars content on Disney+. I loved The Mandalorian, and I have been working on a pattern for quite some time. Last week, I had a customer reach out for a custom Cara Dune standalone pattern. I had so much fun designing this awesome warrior from Alderaan. What do you think? I have had a lot of interest in having this pattern up permanently, so here she is! I can’t wait for The Mandalorian: Season Two (and I am trying to stay spoiler and cast update free!)
A few weeks ago, I finished watching The Clone Wars on Netflix. It was such an amazing show, and it really bridged the gap between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. I just kept shaking my head while watching because IT WAS SO GOOD, and as much as I defend the prequels, let’s be honest, they could have been so much better. Then I find out that George Lucas was a main developer of the series with his ideas and whatnot. UGH WHY GEORGE, WHY?
Anyway, I have had on my back burner (3 years now) a Phantom Menace pattern. I don’t expect many people to buy it because let’s face it, it is the worst Star Wars movie, but it was more of a challenge than anything for me to FINISH THE THING! Every once in a while, I get a random message from someone asking if I would create prequel patterns (since I have patterns for all of the other movies). I tried a few out that were small, but they never seemed to get popular.
Now the obvious elephant in the room: I didn’t want to design Jar Jar Binks. I remember making my Star Wars Alphabet pattern and put the mandate on NO JAR JAR! In fact, I decided to make the BIGGEST character, Jabba the Hutt, for the letter J just to avoid Jar Jar. Also, I had no idea how I was going to do Darth Maul. He is wearing all black with his crazy face, and you must have him holding the lightsaber with his left hand like the iconic pose from the movie …. how do I do that? So I finally faced my fears and went into design mode! I am actually really happy on how Jar Jar looks! Darth Maul was a struggle since he is mostly wearing a kilt type outfit along with a cape … so I did the best I could! I got mad love for you, Padme!
A few years ago, I read “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood and was blown away. A true modern classic, it made me angry cry (considering I was pregnant at the time, this is understandable) and filled me with hope that nothing like this would ever happen. Don’t let the bastards grind you down!
I created my first Marvel inspired cross stitch alphabet back in 2015 — side note — doesn’t that seem like a million years ago?? Since then, there have been so many movies that have been released with legendary characters! Over the years, I have had many custom requests for an alphabet to showcase the new characters. I decided to create a new and improved version without the custom price!

When I was a girl, I absolutely LOVED She-Ra! This should not come as a shock to anyone considering how 1) I kind of looked like her 2) she was a bad-ass warrior woman WITH A SWORD 3) she lived in a forest with crazy colors and everyone had awesome hair!
If you are not a child of the 80s, then you might have missed out on He-Man and She-Ra. Luckily for us all, they re-booted it and made the characters better than ever! I’m not going to lie – watching your favorite cartoons as an adult is … interesting, but I still love this show.
I kept all of my She-ra figures and now Audrey plays with them. Santa visited with the entire set during Christmas!
A few years ago, I was a part of the Matty Etheria Club and bought many awesome sculpted toys. I have a few still boxed, but yeah, my kids love the shows while playing action figures.
I loved designing this pattern, and I’m excited to see the final season starting next week!
Do you have a Spider-Man fanatic in your life? This might be the perfect pattern for them! I loved this adaptation of Peter Parker and his other incarnations from different timelines. Ghost Spider is a favorite in this house followed by Spider-Ham.
I will admit it, I miss Saturday morning cartoons. Can you remember waking up, running to the tv and watching all the great shows while your parents were occupied doing other things? Some of my favorite childhood memories involve these special mornings. I wrote a blog about this a few years ago which you can read here.
One of my all-time favorite cartoons is Jem and The Holograms! How could you not love this show filled with intrigue, fashion, and music? To this day, I get these songs stuck in my head. A few years ago, I went as Pizzazz, the meanest Misfit (and possibly the meanest cartoon character of all-time… truly, she tries to MURDER people…. whoa) for our yearly Halloween costume party. (Man, I miss those days!!!)
My favorite character was Aja since she was Asian, and as a half-Asian kid in the 80’s, it was pretty rare seeing an Asian woman with blue hair. I then became obsessed with Mynx from the Stingers since she had super straight blonde hair like me! At the time, I was an only child, and I had almost all of the dolls and would play the cassette tapes every night.
Check out this “gem” of a picture of me hanging out with my favorite doll while listening to the tape. I have the Jem and the Holograms box set, so I can watch any episode from my childhood whenever I want! I’m a sucker for “Midsummer Night’s Madness,” since it has my favorite song of all time “Can’t Get My Love Together” in it along with Greek Gods and Goddesses! They just don’t make cartoons like they used to. (Believe me, I know!)
