Rebellions Are Built On Hope

Last weekend, my crew and I went to see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and we were NOT disappointed.  I just love how ballsy this movie was, and I absolutely loved all the CGI and the epic finale.  My two new favorite words are “Hammerhead Corvette” and I feel like I should use those words every day to sound cool.  As I was watching the movie, I kept studying the characters and their outfits for my cross stitch pattern.  Also, I recognized a bit of Seven Samurai in this movie.  (Hello, seven misfit characters all working together!)  If you are unfamiliar with Star Wars lore, Akira Kurosawa’s Hidden Fortress helped shape the original Star Wars movie.  Lucas has always been heavily influenced by Joseph Campbell and Kurosawa, and I could see bits of both.  It made me feel like I was in my old Geek-Vons-college-video-rental-girl body watching this movie and thinking of the influences behind it.

When I was on maternity leave, I started working on my Rogue One pattern, but I have a rule not to spoil myself by looking at any YouTube videos or other spoiler-y media other than Entertainment Weekly.  Once I got the Star Wars spread, I went to work.  My favorite character had to be Baze Malbus followed closely by Chirrut Imwe.  Just a magnificent movie, and I can’t wait to see it again.
